Quiz one questions

"the practice of observing strict chastity as a condition of success in hunting and fishing is very common among rude races; and the instances of it which have been cited render it probable that the rule is always based on the superstition rather than on consideration of the temporary weakness which a breach of the custom may entail on the hunter or fisherman."

"The divine person is a source of danger as well as of blessing; he must not only be guarded, he must also be guarded against.  His sacred organism, so delicate that a touch may disorder it, is also, as it were, electrically charged with a powerful magical or spiritual force which may discharge itself with fatal effect on whatever comes in contact with it."

Mythologies of Memory and Forgetting

I our world every culture has its own way of remembering the past to determine what the future will bring or look like.  At times remembering the negative or more terrifying situations in life seems to be easier. We often times are able to recall the more difficult times in our lives first before recalling more stable or joyful happenings.  It is easy to forget happy times in your life when you are faced with daily struggles.  These struggles seem to take the for front of our minds.  Fighting to remember good along with the bad and finding a balance between the two helps, creates balance and harmony in the happenings around you.  What we think we know can only change when we focus on where and what we have been through.
